My first assignment for Andover

It was 7:30 in the morning when Ruth Vidal and her parents walked to the nearest subway station in community Washington Heights in New York City. Her father was rolling her suitcase toward their destination about 5 blocks away. Ruth’s mother, father and herself found themselves tired or napping on the train since they just woke up about an hour ago, not fully awake. Ruth and her parents walked off the train when they arrived at their destination: Port Authority. That is where Ruth is going to take her next adventure: Taking a 4 hour bus ride by herself to live without the comfort of her family for 5 weeks.

The unsettlement in her stomach took over when the bus driver steeped through the sliding doors and called for bus tickets. Her parents stood by the line of passengers, waiting for their daughter to reach up to them. Once she was in front of her parents, a blue thick rope the only barrier between them, Ruth gave each of her parents a one armed hug because a real hug would take up the time she didn’t have. She could feel her heart get heavy as her parents told her to have fun, to be herself, to make friends and to call once she got to Andover. Ruth nodded and agreed to everything they told her to do. She felt the familiar feeling of wanting to cry but she never went through the action; she rarely ever cries and besides, she was only going to be 4 hours away from her hometown. The uneasiness didn’t go away when she boarded the bus. Even though she had just seen her parents, she missed them tremendously.
