Summary: Frank makes one mistake but Mikey isn't letting it go.
His arms were tightly crossed before him, his light hazel eyes glaring straight ahead through his black and white rimmed glasses.
“Mikey.”
The boy’s eyes were off of the back of the drivers head and now looking into the rearview mirror where a pair of chocolate brown eyes was staring back at him.
“What?” Mikey replied, his tone purposely icy.
“Come on Mikes.” The driver pleaded, his eyes going back and forth between the rearview mirror and the black worn out road. “Don’t be like that.”
Mikey scoffed at his plea. “Don’t be like what, Frank?” Mikey sat up from the back seat, leaning forward so he can at least see a patch of Frank’s olive skin. Frank let out a sigh, his eyes glancing at the skinny boy who was expecting an answer.
“Like that.” Frank insisted. Mikey rolled his eyes as he sat back against the back seat.
“I have a reason to act like this.”
Frank sighed again, his eyes noticing the green road sign that read ‘EXIT: NEXT RAMP’ as the moonlight hit it.
“I said I was sorry.” He was biting his lips so that he couldn’t scream out his original thoughts of ‘Let it go!’ and ‘Just shut up!’
“You left me at a dirty truck stop for two hours before realizing I was gone.” Mikey sulked in the back, burying his arms into his chest even more. “What kind of a boyfriend does that?”
Frank sighed as he turned onto the next ramp. “How many times do I have to say sorry?” He was really getting tired of having to apologize over and over again. He could see the small motel near the edge of the road and decided that they needed to rest for the night.
“There were at least 4 guys hitting on me.” Mikey noted, his eyes moving to the rearview mirror to see Frank’s expression.
Mikey could see that the color had drained from Frank’s face. A small smile appeared on Mikey’s face and he wondered if he should be happy about this. He noticed the motel they were driving to. “Where are we going?” He asked, moving up in his seat.
“Motel.” Frank replied monotonously.
“Didn’t we or might I say you decided that we’re going to drive through the night?”
Frank made a sharp turn into a parking lot not answering any of Mikey’s questions. He turned off the engine and sat in the driver’s seat in silence for a few minutes.
“Frank?” Mikey called, worried about his sudden silence. Frank’s hand moved to his seat buckle, unfastened it and turned in his seat to meet Mikey’s gaze.
“Mikey.” He said. The color still had not come back to his momentarily pale face. “I love you.” Frank’s eyes searched Mikey’s thin face and almost smirked when Mikey’s jaw dropped. Mikey quickly closed his mouth and felt the heat from the blush of his cheeks.
“You love me?” Mikey asked with his eyes wide with astonishment.
Frank nodded, the lip ring on the corner of his bottom lip hidden beneath his teeth that were biting down on it. “That’s mostly why I kept apologizing for tonight. If I didn’t love you I think I would’ve punched your face in.”
Mikey’s eyes widened at the thought. Frank saw him staring at his tattooed fingers and laughed. He weaved his way through the small opening between the two front seats and sat down next to Mikey, pushing a duffle bag on the floor. “Want to know a reason about why I love you?” Frank asked, his ink marked fingers moving Mikey’s brown hair away from his eyes. The older boy nodded his head, his mouth not being able to produce words. A smile was occupying half of Frank’s face. The same smile Frank lived for.
“I love that you’re quiet.” Frank’s fingers had raked through the other boy’s hair and were now resting on the back of his neck. With a sudden pull, Mikey was attached to Frank’s plump yet chapped lips, a meaningful kiss shared between the two of them. Mikey’s hands held Frank’s face tenderly as he returned the kiss then all too soon Mikey’s lips were left unattended, searching for warmth.
“But sometimes you’re just too fucking quiet! That’s why I didn’t notice at first.” Frank laughed and Mikey soon joined him. “I’m sorry Mikes, I really am.” He told him again, his facing inching closer.
“I know you are. You noticed in less than two hours. That’s pretty quick for you.” Mikey smiled at his boyfriend who was glaring at him. “I love you Frank. I really do. I love you enough to go on this stupid road trip with you.” The smile returned to Frank’s face. Mikey almost moaned at the warmth of Frank’s lips when pulled him to him. Frank pulled away again making Mikey groan loudly.
“There wasn’t really four guys hitting on you, were they?” Mikey’s right corner of his mouth upturned slightly.
“No.”
Frank sighed out his relief and moved towards Mikey but he moved back.
“There were only two guys.” A laugh escaped from Mikey’s throat and Frank weakly followed. “You shouldn’t have left me at the truck stop.”
“I said I was sorry!”
